Preliminary Road Rescue Establishment AAP Results Released
CSRD Release
The preliminary results of the Alternative Approval Process for the proposed Road Rescue Service Establishment Bylaws have been tabulated.
The CSRD conducted three separate Alternative Approval Processes (AAP) to determine whether taxpayers would support funding new road rescue services in the North Shuswap (Bylaw No. 5898), Electoral Areas C and G (Bylaw No. 5899) and Falkland (Bylaw No. 5900). The AAP started May 22, 2025, and ended at 4 PM on June 30, 2025.
In an Alternative Approval Process, the Local Government Act sets out that if at least 10 per cent of the electors in the proposed service area record their opposition to a proposal, the plan must either proceed to referendum or be abandoned.
In the case of Bylaw No. 5898 for the North Shuswap, the number of valid elector responses required to prevent the Board from proceeding with its establishment was 272. The number of valid elector response forms received by the CSRD in opposition to the service is 26.
In the case of Bylaw No. 5899 for the South Shuswap, the number of valid elector responses required to prevent the Board from proceeding with its establishment was 753. The number of valid elector response forms received by the CSRD in opposition to the service is 13.
In the case of Bylaw No. 5900 for Falkland, the number of valid elector responses required to prevent the Board from proceeding with its establishment was 99. The number of valid elector response forms received by the CSRD in opposition to the service is 216.
The CSRD Board will now discuss the Alternative Approval Process results at the Regular Board Meeting scheduled for July 17, 2025.
